The cute guy at work that I loan books to (and wish was 10 years older)(since I certainly *don't* want to be 10 years younger again) burned me Samurai Champloo, which I started watching today.

He said, "I figured you'd like it since you like Cowboy Bebop." He could've just as easily said, "I figured you'd like it because you like The Boondocks." It seems to be a combination of the two -- especially the ep with the guy doing beatbox into the handle of his sword and Mugen getting roofied. Anime really does have an interesting way of blending comedy and pathos. And of course I always love voice cameos by Johnny Yong Bosch.

And now I know who the guy is in my icon. Thanks [personal profile] scathachdhu!

Of course I went online to see if I could download music from the show and naturally the only one I *can't* get connected to is "Battle Cry", the theme song. Life's like that.

In other news, it was 94 degrees today. This is unusual, but since it was snowing last month, I'll take it.

busy week

Tonight: nothing, although I have to assess whether Hari is well enough to go to school tomorrow.
Tuesday: PTG from 6:30-8:00.
Wednesday: dinner at Noodles w/my friend Emily at 5:30.
Thursday: Finale of SHOW!
Friday: Hari to her father's.

This doesn't include working 8 hours every day and the magnificent stress that is my job right now. I think I need a pre-emptive nap!

My dentist never has any good news for me.
Had a cleaning this morning, where we discussed the continuing temperature sensitivity of the tooth *next* to the one that recently got a root canal. Dentist mentioned that I could try a sedative filling, which might calm the sensitivity down. If not, it'd be another root canal. Oh, and I have another filling that is "leaking" and needs to be replaced.
FML, man. All I really want to do is be able to eat without having to choose which side of my mouth I chew on.

Every year my ex asks me if I want to take our daughter for Mother's Day (he usually has her on weekends) and I always laughingly tell him No. My idea of a good Mother's Day is one where I get to take a break from mothering.

This year, though, it didn't turn out exactly as I had expected...

I met my friend Tracy for coffee around 11, and she brought me a beautiful bouquet of irises (my favorite flower), lavender and lilies of the valley that she grew in her own garden.

While there I got a phone call from J., telling me that Hari had developed a sudden ear infection and they were taking her to a Walgreen's clinic. I talked to Hari and she sounded *so* sad, but she's also a drama princess.

Tracy and I went to Borders, where I saw many books I wanted but did not buy (new JR Ward, favorite guilty pleasure, *lurid* red cover) and got another call from J. Yes, ear infection, she was getting zithromycin and we would discuss whether Hari was coming home later on after she'd been dosed.

So I went home and performed a cleansing ritual to rid my house of what I suspected was a cursed object. Got rid of the cursed object before I went out to coffee.

Then I bounced around at loose ends until J. and talked and determined that Hari should stay with him for the night and we would meet at 12 today.

Got very diverted by the whole WinCon/Nyxiegate thing. Riveting reading. I really am not going to get personally involved, however.

Went to bed around 11 and had a hard time sleeping! Woke up around 4:30 this morning, which I feel is a waste of my childfree time. Alas.

So that was my mother's day. No card, although I did get a bouquet. No one took me out for brunch, but I had a nice coffee date with Tracy. It was a good day, although strangely incomplete.

I just miss Hari.

Apparently I won some sort of random draw to get a password to create a DreamWidth account.

I prefer to think that the username "roguebitch" is just so awesome that the staff saw it and said, "Hell yeah, give HER an account right now!"

Most likely I will post simultaneously there and here, unless LJ becomes a fascist state, in which case I will take all my happy porny stuff to DW.
